Boat Trips to Skelligs
A UNESCO World Heritage Site
An early start is necessary to take a trip to the Famous Skellig Rocks. One of Ireland’s most important Christian sites, the Rocks are located 12kms off the coast of Kerry and have been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Fans of Star Wars films flock to the Skelligs to soak up the history as well as being part of the magical experience that made Star Wars filmmakers choose to feature this sacred site in the latest film, “The Force Awakens”. A trip to Kerry is not complete without a visit.
Breathtaking views of the bay will surround you on the boat trip.
On landing, you make your way up the great Skellig where the monastic settlement is located. The small Skellig is easily viewed from here with all its puffins, razorbills and others.
It is renowned as an important breeding site for many threatened species of sea birds. Botanists can marvel at the abundant local flora, much of which cannot be found anywhere else in Ireland.
Boats leave from Portmagee harbour everyday at 09.00am and return at 3.30pm. The trip costs €60.00 per person and can be organised at the hotel. We also provide a packed lunch for the trip should you require it. The excursion is subject to weather conditions.
